BACKGROUND

Lawson Vocal Studios Inc. aka LVS, is known for working with developing, emerging and established artists across Canada and beyond. LVS is dedicated to supporting their clients by providing private & group coaching as well as artist development related programs.

PROGRAM OVERVIEW

The “BECOMING” Contest is intended to support emerging Canadian artists by providing the 3 Standout artists, who will be selected by a music industry panel, artist development opportunities including access to all LVS programs and music industry partners to further their career in the best way possible.

 

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

To be eligible to participate in the Competition, each participant must:

• Be a legal resident of Canada (in the case of a band/ensemble, 50% of the members must be residents of Canada).

• Self-identify as an emerging artist.

• Have an active, public Instagram/TikTok account.

• Have released original music on some recognized streaming platform i.e. Spotify, Apple Music etc.

• Be at least 12 years of age by September 2022.

• *If you (or any member of your group, if applicable) are under the age of majority in the province in which you reside, you must have your parent and/or legal guardian read and agree to the terms and conditions on your behalf. Unless your parent and/or legal guardian agrees to these terms, you will not be eligible to participate.

*You are under the age of majority if you are:

• Under 18 years of age and reside in Alberta, Manitoba, Ontario, Prince Edward Island, Quebec, or Saskatchewan; and

• Under 19 years of age and reside in British Columbia, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Northwest Territories, Nova Scotia, Nunavut, or Yukon

FEES

There are no fees to upload your submission. All costs incurred in the production and delivery of the video submission, headshots, or any other materials submitted shall be solely at the expense of the Applicant.

AGREEMENTS

The Applicant hereby grants to Lawson Vocal Studios Inc. a non-exclusive, royalty-free, perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide license to use the submission and the performance and showcase content in and on any and all media, now and hereafter devised, for any purpose.

​

Except as set forth above, the Applicant has the exclusive ownership of any and all right, title, and interest in the Performance Content, as well as any copyrights relating thereto.

​

By entering the Contest, the Applicant agrees to become a subscriber to the LVS newsletter. Should the Applicant wish, they may unsubscribe at any time.

​

The Applicant is solely responsible for ensuring they have the right to perform and submit the songs in both their video application, and if they make the top 10, in their live performance Finale Showcase. They are solely responsible for ensuring there are no restrictions and/or clearance issues with any of the materials they submit in their application or with any live performances for the Finale Showcase.

GENERAL

LVS and its affiliates and agents will not be liable for any failure of the website during the contest or any technical malfunction or other problems, the failure of any submission to be received, captured, or recorded for any reason, any injury or damage to an Applicant’s or any other person’s computer or other device related to or resulting from participating in the Contest, or any combination of the above.

The decisions of the Music Industry Panel, with respect to all aspects of this Contest, are final and binding on all Applicants without the right of appeal, including, without limitation, any decisions regarding the eligibility/disqualification of Submissions and/or Applicants. By participating in this Contest, you are agreeing to be legally bound by the terms and conditions of this Contest.
